Who compiled this

This site is an independently compiled wild-history archive by Vince Jiang, with no affiliation to any university's official bodies; the author's public identity is at vincejiang.com. Rankings are objective third-party league-table data — this site only compiles, compares and interprets them with sources cited.

Data sources

World rankings are drawn from QS World University Rankings (cross-checked against its official student-facing TopUniversities site) and U.S. News Best Global Universities; subject rankings from QS by Subject and U.S. News Subject; all cross-checked against each university's official press releases and reputable media. Key sources:

Verification method (every claim sourced)

Every figure carries an inline primary source: rank, edition year and release date can each be checked via its own link, rather than lumped together at the end of a paragraph.
Cross-source verification: where possible, each rank is corroborated by ≥2 independent sources (official press release plus the list's own site or reputable media).
Edition disambiguation: QS entries are labelled by "edition year" (e.g. QS2027, released June 2026), U.S. News by "edition tag + release date", to avoid mixing up ranks between adjacent editions.
Methodology changes noted: for instance, QS's 2024 edition overhauled its methodology (adding International Research Network, Employment Outcomes, Sustainability, etc.), causing Hong Kong universities to drop collectively that year — this is flagged in the interpretation.

Known limitations

QS and U.S. News's official methodology pages return 403 to automated fetches (Akamai / Cloudflare anti-scraping), so weighting data is cross-verified via TopUniversities, official press releases and reputable secondary sources (≥2 sources where possible). This site is a wild-history compilation; where it differs from a primary source, the cited primary source takes precedence — corrections are welcome.

This site's ranking data is published as structured JSON, each figure carrying a primary source: /data/rankings.json ↗ (plus separate qs-world / usnews-world / subject / methodology JSON files). Ranking copyright belongs to QS, U.S. News and other original list publishers; this site claims no copyright over it.
